Castle Cement rebrands as Hanson Cement
Hanson are to bring together their Castle Cement and Civil and Marine businesses to form the UK’s largest producer of cement-related products.
Castle Cement are already one of the major players in Portland cement, with around a quarter of the UK market, while Civil and Marine are the leading producers of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) for use as a high-quality cement replacement in ready-mixed and precast concrete.
Operating as Hanson Cement, the combined business will run nine production sites and depots and provide customers with a centralised ordering system and ‘one-stop shop’ for cement products.
Commenting on the move, Hanson Cement’s commercial director, Keith Ellis, said there would be no change to the company’s products, just the name. ‘The Castle branding, with its iconic red turret, will remain on all our packed products,’ he stated.
