Lafarge Westbury closure set for April, UK
06 March 2009

Only four jobs will remain at the Lafarge Cement Westbury plant when it ceases production in April.

The consultation process with employees at the plant in Wiltshire has finished with the result that only four jobs will be saved when the plant begins to operate as a depot.

The closure decision followed an announcement made last September to mothball half the site’s manufacturing, due to reduced demand and increased energy costs.

The company has been working with staff to find alternative employment opportunities since September.
