Opposition group discuss proposed Titan Plant
21 January 2009

A forum was held on Wednesday night by a group that opposes the proposed Titan Cement Plant being built in Castle Hayne.

More than fifty people attended the meeting at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Local experts on health and the environment spoke about the potential hazards of a plant the size of what Titan proposes to build.

One pediatrician says the community faces the risk of health problems, birth defects, and mental disorders if the plant is built.

Titan representatives say the company is committed to protecting the health and environment of their workers and the surrounding areas.
