Reuters quoted Mr Aditya Jajodia CMD of Jai Balaji Industries Ltd as saying that Jai Balaji Industries Ltd will start building its new integrated steel, cement and power plant in eastern West Bengal state from January end.

Mr Jajodia said that it has got 750 acres of land from local authorities for the project. He added that "We will get another 250 acres over and above this within the next 10-15 days."

Altogether 3,700 acres are required for the project.

He said that it plans to spend about INR 40 billion in the next 36 months for the first phase to set up the 2Mt, a 1Mt cement plant and a 400MW power unit.

He said that "We will get non coking coal locally and buy iron ore fines from neighboring Orissa and Jharkhand."

He added that it has plans to eventually expand the plant’s steel making capacity to 5Mt, cement capacity to 3Mt and power to 1,215 MW.
