Italcementi chief executive Carlo Pesenti met in Tripoli on Tuesday with Libya’s Industry Minister Ali Youssef Zekri to discuss the investment for the cement plant which is expected to have an annual capacity of some four million tonnes.
“The investment will be made using the best available technology with the purpose to optimise the plant’s production and environmental efficiency,” Italcementi said in a statement. “With the new atmosphere of active co-operation between Italy and Libya, we hope to rapidly close the stage of obtaining permits for the plant and its infrastructure to move on to the construction stage,” Italcementi said.
