Titan Cement acquires more land

Carolinas Cement Company, a subsidiary of Titan, announced the purchase of additional property south of Holly Shelter Road, across from the site of its proposed cement plant.

The company plans to shift some of its mining operations to the new property to ensure the wetlands near the Northeast Cape Fear River will not be impacted by its proposed plant.

"This new quarry plan is consistent with Carolinas Cement’s corporate values of environmental stewardship," said Jay Willis, Carolinas Cement’s Environmental Manager in a press release. "The plan allows us to preserve and protect the most sensitive wetlands that include tidal cypress-gum swamp, and still maintain a footprint that is most conducive to a cement manufacturing operation."
