31 October 2008

Lafarge unveiled on Wednesday its plan to invest EUR100m to set up a new production line at its plant in the Provence region, southern France.

At present, the company is trying to obtain all necessary approvals for the investment. Local authorities are carrying out a public investigation which is expected to end on November 6.

If the planned investment gets the green light, the group hopes that the future facility will be ready by 2012.

Thanks to the new production line, the plant’s production capacity will rise to 1.2Mt of cement from the current 900,000t.
