Kuwait Cement Company plans to double its annual clinker capacity by adding a second clinker production line in the third quarter of 2008, the company said in a filing to the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) on October 16, 2008.

The new clinker line will have an annual capacity of 2.5Mt.

Kuwait Cement has already awarded a KWD12.45m (US$46.9m) to an unnamed local company for the construction and infrastructure works on the expansion project. The contract is to be completed by end-August 2010.
