The Department of Environmental Quality presented the Alpena Intergovernmental Air and Water Quality Committee with a draft of Lafarge’s alternate fuel burning permit and announced the date of a public hearing on the matter.

The draft outlines terms Lafarge must comply with or face the possibility of having the permit stripped by the DEQ.

Among the conditions are the process, or process equipment, cannot be modified, moved or relocated unless a permit is received from the state.
