17 October 2008

VDM Group Ltd  announced today that its subsidiary VDM Resources & Infrastructure Pty Ltd, trading as Rocktec, has been awarded a contract by Cemex at Port Hedland, Western Australia.

The contract is for the screening and processing of a range of core and armour rock sizes for marine construction.

The material is required for Cemex’s customer, BHP Billiton, for that company’s port facilities expansion at Port Hedland. The base contract is worth just under $6 million. There is provision for extensions to the scope of works which Rocktec expects to occur. The Group’s Chief Operating Officer for the Resources & Infrastructure Division, Darryl Ferrara said "this contract establishes Rocktec’s presence in the Pilbara and we are already collaborating with Cemex on quarrying and raw material production supply contracts for other major resource projects."
