Belarus up 9.8 per cent in first eight months

Belarus’cement output in the first eight months of 2008 totaled 2.81Mt, a 9.8 per cent YoY increase, according to the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis. Cement output reportedly amounted to 403,400t in August, or 2.3 per cent more than in July and 14.5 per cent more than in August 2007.

The Council of Ministers directed in December that the domestic cement supply should increase by 47 per cent in 2008 to 5.4Mt (with 1.2Mt coming from exports), and to 9.5Mt by 2010. The increase is to be achieved through the modernization of the existing plants and the construction of new ones.
