Garadagh Cement OJSC has begun preparation for the construction of a new kiln line that will produce 400,000tpa of clinker. This will result in an increase in cement production to 1.7Mt. The construction will start in late 2008 or early 2009 and will last three years, the company’s General Director, Horia Adrian said.

The cement factory’s modernization project is estimated at EUR 327m. The decision to increase capacity was announced in February 2008, when signing the contract on selling 10% of the company’s shares by Holcim Group to the state-run Azerbaijan Investment Company. The deal totaled EUR 13.7m.
