Cement projects in Himachal Pradesh will soon supplement the ’clean Himachal’ project aimed at making the state clean and green.

This will be done by cutting on activities that put pressure on environment as well as generating electricity by ’waste heat recovery system’ to gainfully utilise the kiln gases emission from the plants.

This was revealed by Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal, chief minister in a meeting with Shri Arun Mahajan, vice president, ACC Limited, who called on him to apprise him of the environmental protection measures being adopted by the company as its share to make Himachal Pradesh pollution free in all respects.

The chief minister said that endeavour of the cement plants operational in the state to utilise the kiln gases for generating electricity was innovative and in the best interest of the environment preservation.

He said that the waste exhaust kiln gases, which were heating the surrounding environment, could be utilised as raw material for generation of electricity after incorporating necessary modifications in the design of the cement plants.
