Itambe, the cement manufacturer based at Balsa Nova (Parana) is investing BRL$400m over the next three years of which R$320m to expand capacity from the current 1.5Mt to 2.8Mt and BRL$80m to set up a distribution facility at Santa Catarina state and the increase of the milling capacity by 700,000tpa.

Itambe had in 2007 an output of of cement, up 12% from 2006 and superintendent manager Paulo Procopiak de Aguiar says demand is heated, up 30% from Jan - June 2007 in the company stronghold area of Parana (40% of sales), Santa Catarina (35%) and Rio Grande do Sul (35%) states.
