Holcim Romania to boost production by 30 per cent

The Romanian unit of Swiss cement producer Holcim said it has recently completed a EUR120m project to modernise its cement plant in Campulung, southern Romania, which increased its total production capacity by 30 per cent, the company said on June 30, 2008.
 
The company plans to invest an additional EUR75m to further optimise its production, CEO Markus Wirth said.
 
Holcim Romania targets to boost its turnover by up to 20 per cent on the year in 2008, from 990m Romanian lei (EUR271.2m) in 2007.
 
The company reported a net profit of 114.5m lei (EUR31.37m) for 2007, down by 34.5 per cent on the year. Its gross profit fell by 33 per cent on the year to 138.9m lei (EUR/38.05m) last year.
