Holcim to establish training facility in Switzerland
30 June 2008

Holcim said it has commissioned a new training centre in the Swiss town of Holderbank.

Comprising research laboratories, additional office space and a generously sized training center, the 15,000m2 building complex will allow the Group to increase its current workforce in Holderbank to more than 800 from 550.

The company will invite several architects both from within and outside Switzerland to tender studies. The project selected by an international jury is to be presented to the authorities, neighbors and the public before the end of the current year. Assuming that the necessary permits are issued by the second half of 2009 at the latest, construction work can commence in mid-2010 and the competence center will be up and running in time for Holcim’s centenary celebrations in 2012.
