Uzbekistan to build six more cement plants

Uzbekistan is planning to build six more cement plants with total value of US$1.415bn in 2008-2012, Uzstroimaterials analysis and development manager Akbar Mukhitdinov announced at a business forum on Monday in Tashkent.
 
The financing of the cement production projects with the total capacity of 9.5Mta of products will be raised through direct foreign investment, loan reserves without government securities and Uzbek companies own funds.
 
Uzbekistan is one of the leaders in cement production in the post Soviet area, and rates third after Russia and Ukraine.
 
Currently six cement plants with 6.5Mt capacity are operating in Uzbekistan.
 
In 2007 cement production in Uzbekistan rose 6.6% from 2006.
