China’s cement demand increases 50Mt to 70Mt

Cement demand in the earthquake-affected areas in Southwest China is estimated at between 50Mt and 70Mt. Statistics show that more than four million houses were collapsed and damaged mainly in Sichuan Province, which was hit by powerful earthquake on May 12.

Statistics show that an investment between ¥400bn and 600bn is needed in fixed assets for urban citizens who suffered directly from the quake.The rapid growth of cement demand had far beyond Sichuan’s production capacity.
