Making efforts to bag major share in the cement industry, Jaypee Group has firmed up plans to enhance its cement capacity from the present 7Mta to 25Mta by 2010. The company is already undertaking projects in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. The group’s 3Mta capacity cement plant in village Bagha and Bagheri of Solan district (Himachal Pradesh), is all set for additional capacity of 1.5-2Mta with further investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Based on the Baga Bhalag mines, the cement plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of this year. It has already catalyzed investment of about Rs 1,700 crore and will house a captive power plant as well. Work on capacity expansion will begin later this year and is expected to be complete by 2010. Rajiv Gaur, President, Jaypee Group shared with FE, "This plant has been split into three units located at Baga, Bagheri and Panipat.
 
The Panipat unit has already been commissioned and the Bagheri unit is likely to be commissioned by October. We are developing two more split units at Roorkee and Pathankot as well which are likely to be operational next year."
