According to Al-Bayan newspaper (May 5, 2008), a report by the National Investor, an investment bank based in Abu Dhabi, shows that that the cement consumption in the UAE grew at a compound annual growth of 24.7 per cent between 2003 and 2006.

The report added that the demand could reach 26.2Mt by 2011 in the wake of the massive demand brought about by the ongoing construction boom.
