Saurashtra Cement announced a substantial rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company rose 43.10% to INR 137.12m from INR95.82m in the same quarter last year.  

The company reported earnings of Rs 2.63 a share during the quarter, registering 16.89% growth over prior year period.

Net sales for the quarter surged 52.32% to INR1,602.02m, while total income for the quarter jumped 55.49% to INR 1,675.15m, when compared with the prior year period.
