Aditya Birla March cement sales up 2.8%
Aditya Birla Group cement sales in March rose 2.8 per cent to 3.03Mt from a year earlier.
Production was up 4.9 per cent at 3.03Mt in March, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Sales in the financial year 2008 jumped 4.5 per cent to 30.55Mt from 29.2Mt a year earlier, while the production increased 4.8 per cent to 30.6Mt from 29.24Mt logged in the corresponding period last year.
The group commenced production at its new 1.30Mta grinding unit at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.
Ambuja Cements has reported a 16 per cent rise in March sales at 1.71Mt against 1.47Mt registered in the corresponding period last year.
Production in March was up 23 per cent at 1.76Mt against 1.43Mt last year.
Between January and March sales grew 10 per cent to 4.75Mt (4.32Mt), while production rose 13 per cent to 4.82Mt (4.28Mt). Published under Cement News
