The Sharaf Group plans to spend AED1bn ($272m) building a cement factory in the United Arab Emirates to meet soaring demand from contractors, Khaleej Times reported, citing Managing Director Yousuf Sharaf.

The Fujairah plant will take two years to build and will be able to produce 2Mt of cement a year in its first phase rising to 4Mt later, Sharaf said,
