Emirate cement manufacturers respond to price controls
07 March 2008

Cement manufacturers in the United Arab Emirates have responded to a call by the Ministry of Economy to abide by the price set by the ministry in an effort to regulate the cost of construction in the country. MoE had fixed the price at AED 17 (US$4.62) per bag of 50kg of cement, and the cement companies have positively responded to this regulatory decision.

MoE expressed its gratitude to the cement manufacturers for their prompt response, and said that the ministry will soon hold meetings with the cement factories in the country to discuss with them the cost of production and the price structure in preparation for revising the prices in a more realistic way.
