UAE-based Fujairah Cement Industries said profit in 2007 rose 16 perc ent, helped by higher production.

Net income advanced to AED173.2m (US$47.2m) from AED150m in 2006, the company said in a statement posted on the Abu Dhabi Securities Market Web site on Sunday.

Cement production grew 35 per cent to 2.1Mt.
