Outlook: Buzzi Unicem FY revenues may rise 10% on Eastern Europe
05 February 2008

Buzzi Unicem SpA is expected to show an up to 10 per cent rise in full-year revenues when it reports its preliminary results on Friday, driven by continued strength in eastern Europe, analysts said.

Revenues are seen rising to 3.472 bln eur from 3.205 bln in 2006, according to an average of estimates from six analysts, whose forecasts range between 3.385-3.516 bln eur. Figures for net and operating profits will be disclosed with the final report on March 27.

A UBS analyst said the performance in Eastern Europe should remain very strong thanks to mild weather in the first quarter and strong price increases.

In the US, sales should fall by 10 per cent but with improved margins. Italy may continue to be hit by rising energy costs and a drop in volumes, and Germany and Luxembourg should benefit from good prices, the analyst said in a note.

On Jan 31, Buzzi’s 88 per cent-owned affiliate Dyckerhoff AG released a solid 25 per cent rise in full-year revenues to EUR1.777bn, prompting some analysts to revised upwards their forecasts for the Buzzi group.
