Azerbaijan output reaches 1.778Mt in 2007
Azerbaijan cement production reached 1.778Mt representing an increase of 10.6% compared with 2006.
Garadagh Cement is the main local producer and has an annual capacity of 1-1.4Mt of cement, which is good enough to meet 50% of the domestic demand. The rest is imported.
The 2006 domestic production of cement equalled 1.554Mt being merely 0.1% up on 2005. Yet, this remains to be the record mark for Azerbaijan.
The Azeri government muses on creating new cement plants in the country and has the interest from such renowned producer as France’s Lafarge.
