Holcim plans to lease limestone quarry in Southern Romania

Holcim Romania plans to lease a new limestone perimeter near the company’s plant in Campulung Muscel, Arges county, southern Romania, Bogdan Gabudeanu, head of the Romanian mineral resources authority ANRM, told local press.
 
"Holcim Romania is interested in leasing a limestone perimeter in Campulung. Under the law, we are to organize a public offer contest to put up 4-5 quarries, including the land required by  Holcim," Gabudeanu said.  
 
He added the auction announcement will be published in February at the latest.  
 
From 1999 to 2005, the cement plant in Campulung benefited from total investments of EUR50 million. In 2005, the company started upgrading production lines in Campulung and works are set to be completed this year, following investments of EUR120 million, Holcim Romania officials said last year.
