Vietnam consumes 36Mt of cement in 2007

Vietnam reportedly consumed nearly 36.06Mt in 2007, a YoY of 13%, said the Vietnam Cement Association.  
 
Cement producers in the country turned out 36.16Mt in the year, surpassing the yearly target by 2%, the association added.  
 
At present, prices of reverter-furnace cement range between VND810,000-855,000/ton in the north and the central region, and between VND878,000-978,000/ton in the south.  
 
Cement prices are forecast to continue rising in the first quarter of 2008 due to a hike of 50-70% in coal prices in the coming time.
