Indonesia’s Semen Gresik sales grow 1.8 per cent in 11 months to November
19 December 2007

State-run PT Semen Gresik, Indonesia’s largest cement maker by sales volume, said Wednesday its cement sales in the first 11 months of the year rose 1.8 per cent to 15.49Mt compared to the previous year’s 15.22Mt.

Domestic sales rose 1.6 per cent to 13.80Mt while exports grew 3.2 per cent to 1.69Mt, the company said.

Growth in its domestic sales was much slower compared to the 6.8 percent rise in nationwide cement consumption over the same period as the company focused on boosting margins instead of market share. Nationwide cement sales in the period rose to 31.08Mt.

Semen Gresik currently has production capacity of 16.92 million tons and is planning to add 5Mt of new capacity over the next five years.
