Cyprus production up five per cent
19 December 2007

Cement production in Cyprus reached 1.71Mt in January-November, recording a rise of five per cent over the same period of the previous year on the back of a buoyant construction sector.

Local sales of cement rose by 11 per cent in the same period, with sales of "super white" up the strongest at 28.3 per cent, followed by Portland composite at 19.1 per cent.

However, exports of cement products collapsed, falling by 63.7% over Jan-November 2006, presumably owing to strong competition.
