Unesid and Oficemen sign agreement, Spain

Unesid and Oficemen sign agreement, Spain
11 December 2007

The Spanish cement manufacturers’ association, Oficemen, has signed a cooperation agreement with the Spanish steelmakers’ association, Unesid. Under the terms of the agreement, byproducts of furnace steelworks will be used to produce clinker. The agreement also provides for the creation of a technical committee consisting of members of Unesid and Oficemen.

Both associations have emphasised that the use of these byproducts in clinker production will have a positive impact on the environment and reduce waste disposal costs. It will also lead to savings in terms of the cost of raw materials.
