Bamburi denies cement shortage claim

Bamburi is not facing a cement shortage as claimed by transporters citing delay in loading, the management has said.

The company’s corporate affairs manager, Ms Nancy Nderitu, said the delay was caused by maintenance of the large packaging line.

“We do assure our customers that the company is not faced with cement shortages at all. There was a slight delay in the packing of the commodity since one of our packing line was under maintenance,” she told the press on Saturday.

Last Thursday over 200 truck drivers and turn boys protested against the long time it was taking to load cement onto their lorries claiming they had been at the plant for between three and five days.

Ms Nderitu said the problem has now been sorted out.
