State-owned cement maker PT Semen Gresik said it will start increasing its production capacity by up to 700,000t next year to meet growing demand in the country.

Demand for cement has increased in the country especially outside Java, company President Dwi Soetjipto said, predicting the company would overshoot its sales target of 17.1Mt this year.

Dwi said the company might have to reduce exports to increase supply on the domestic market.
Meanwhile, preparation is progressing for the construction of new factories that are expected to come to reality in the next three years, he said.
