Russia’s Volgo-Cement has signed a preliminary EUR80m agreement to purchase equipment for its yet-to-be-built cement plant from Germany’s Polysius AG, ThyssenKrupp’s engineering unit, the press service of the Volgograd Region’s government said Friday.

Volgo-Cement plans to start building its plant in the north of the Volgograd Region in January-June 2008, the press service of the regional government said in September. Volgo-Cement will invest 8 billion rubles in the construction. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 1 million tonnes of cement.

Last year, Volgograd Region-based Volgo-Cement bought at an auction a field that contains 60 million tonnes of raw materials for the production of cement. The cement plant will be built near the field.
