New cement plant proposed in Vietnam

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam has recently signed a credit deal worthover US$100m with Do Luong Co. to build a cement plant in central Nghe An province, according to local reports. Do Luong planned to sign an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) with Vietnam Machinery Installation Corp (Lilama) to supply and install all the processing facility here, said a company official on the signing date.

In the first ten months, Vietnam’s cement producers reportedly churned out 27.3Mt, up 12.2% on year, said the General Statistics Office.

The country expected to have 45 operating cement plants with the combined capacity over 60 million tons by 2010 and become ASEAN’s largest cement producer by 2010, said Nguyen Ngoc Thien, chairman of the Vietnam Cement Association also adding that his country will 12Mt cement surplus in 2012.
