Lafarge to invest more in Romania
23 November 2007

Lafarge is likely to invest Euro 58m in its three plants in Romania with the aim to increase their capacity by 1Mta. The move will enable the French company to meet the growing demand on the construction materials market in Romania.

Following this investment, the group expects to book a revenue of Euro 400m from its activities in Romania in 2008.

The good financial perspectives for Lafarge are largely attributable to the boom of the building materials market in Romania, which is exected to top 10Mt in 2007 and 11Mt in 2008, according to experts. Lafarge has been present in Romania since 1997 with plants in Medgidia, Hoghiz and Targu Jiu.
