Azerbaijan produces over 1.5Mt of cement in January
For January-October 2007, as much as 1.508Mt of cement was produced in Azerbaijan, an increase of 9.5% from January-October 2006.
Garadagh Cement is the chief producer of cement locally; it is capable of putting out 1-1.4Mta of cement , which is good to meet 50 per cent of national demand.
Last year’s production reached 1,554Mt being merely 0.1% up on the year before; still, this is the highest mark achieved in Azerbaijan so far.
By the way, the Government is looking at options to have new cement plants built around the country. Such major producers as France’s Lafarge are standing by to go about. Published under Cement News
