Azerbaijan produces over 1.2Mta of cement, Jan-Sept 2007
Azerbaijan produced over 1.285Mta of cement in the Jan-Sept 2007 period – an increase pf 5.6% YoY.
Garadagh Cement, the country’s largest producer, is capable of manufacturing 1-1.4Mta, which is able to meet 50% of the national demand. The rest is imported.
Last year’s production reached 1.554Mt being just 0.1% up on the year before but still, the highest level achieved in Azerbaijan so far.
The Government is currently looking at options to construct new cement plants in the country in conjunction with producers such as Lafarge said to be interested.
