Investments in Peru cement plants expansion seen over $300m

Combined investments in ongoing expansion works in plants of Peruvian cement producers Cementos Lima, Cementos Pacasmayo and Cementos Yura are projected to exceed US$300m (EUR209.7m) in 2007 and 2008, the country’s Production Minister Rafael Rey estimated on October 19, 2007. 
 
The expansion projects are expected to be completed in 2008.  
 
Some brick production plants are also expected to undertake expansions at the end of 2007, according to the minister. 
 
Peruvian domestic cement sales stood at 3.72Mt in January to August 2007, up 15 per cent YoY. The country’s total cement sales registered a 4.4 pct increase to 3.93Mt, with exports dropping by 60 per cent to 210,000t.  
 
The cement production in Peru rose by 3.7 pct to 3.94Mt over the period.
