Lafarge Group Expands in Sichuan
Lafarge plans to further expand in the southwestern Chinese province of
Sichuan where it is capable of producing 5.5Mt of cement per year in
Sichuan, after successfully acquiring Sichuan Shuangma Cement Co in July
2007.
In addition, Lafarge Shui On Cement Limited, a subsidiary of Lafarge Group,
totally invested CNY 357 million in acquisition of the Shuangma cement
factory previously. Presently, the factory has already put the first-phase
project into production, gaining an annual cement production capacity of
1Mt. The company also intends to invest an additional over CNY 200 million
here in the near future, with a view to achieving a 2.4Mt yearly cement
production.
