Azerbaijan produced 1.135 million tons of cement during the first eight months of 2007, with a 3.9% increase from the first eight months of 2006. 11.9 thousand tons of cement had been in stock by September 1.

The main cement producer is Garadagh Cement. This plant meets 50% of the local cement demand (Garadag Cement is capable of producing 1 to 1.4 mn tons of cement per annum), while the rest is imported.
Notably, Azerbaijan produced 1.554 million tons of cement in 2006, with a 0.1% increase from 2005. It has been the highest indicator in Azerbaijan’s cement production history.

It is worth noting that the question of building a new cement plant in Azerbaijan is the focus of area of the government. The French company Lafarge is interested in undertaking this project.
