South Africa builds slowly on cement sales

Cement sales in South Africa increased 10.4% year-on-year (YoY) in August 2007 according to Cement and Concrete Institute (CNCI) data.

July recorded growth of 10.8% YoY.

At the end of August 2007, cement sales for the 12 months were reported up to 15.293Mt from the 13.850Mt recorded a year earlier.

The moving average total a month earlier - in July 2007 - was reported at 15.212Mt.

Exports of cement in August were down 0.9% YoY at 177,083 tons from the 178,632t reported a year earlier.
