11 September 2007

After a several months of evaluation by the National Eco-Labelling Board of the Philippines,  Solid Cement Corporation can now us the Green Choice Seal on their products. With the Green Choice Seal in three of its products —  Cemex Island Portland cement,  Cemex Palitada King, and  Cemex Rizal Super Portland cement with Philippine Tuff,  Cemex is able to assist consumers in contributing to environmental protection by helping them choose products that are not only of the best possible quality but are also ecofriendly.

Cemex Rizal Super Portland cement with Philippine Tuff is the only cement fortified with natural minerals that strengthens concrete overtime and selfheals crack. It is used for general construction to reinforce concrete walls, pavement and underground structure.  Cemex Island Portland cement, on the other hand, is used for general construction of structures, such as floors, walls, pavements, sidewalks and prefabricated elements. The Cemex Island Portland cement’s features are best maximized when used for high rise buildings and heavy infrastructures such as bridges, flyovers, among other things.

"The Green Choice seal of approval is a clear indication that our business commitment goes beyond providing our consumers quality products but extends to upholding our active participation in environmental protection and conservation" said Paul Victor Aquino,  Cemex Philippines Vice President for Commercial.

The hard-earned Green Choice seal of approval was achieved through various programs for a cleaner and greener environment. Under the company’s Ecoefficiency Program, the company has continued its focus on implementing sweeping environmental initiatives. Furthermore, the company continues to seek for new and better ways to help promote environmental conservation.
