Shares in Cimpor rose almost four percent on Thursday after Lafarge said it had increased its stake in the company to 17 per cent from 12.6 per cent, traders said.  
 
Lafarge said it was not planning a takeover bid for Cimpor, for now, but traders said such a move could take place in the future.  
 
"Lafarge’s move signals more than just a financial interest in Cimpor and is boosting shares," a trader said.
