Lafarge plans to build a cement plant in the Kaluga Region not far from Moscow. It has won an auction for the right to develop 93ha (230 acres) of the Borshchevskoye deposit.

The company will invest over EUR230m in the first stage of the project. The company’s representatives are also negotiating with the management of the Volvo and  Volkswagen car assemblies being built in Kaluga. The cement plant could use waste from the two assemblies as alternative fuel.
