Shri Ramrupai Balaji Steels announced on Tuesday that the board decided to set up a cement plant with a capacity of 3Mt in the state of Orissa involving an estimated investment of about Rs 11bn.

The Calcutta high court approved the scheme of amalgamation of the company with Jai Balaji Sponge on Jun. 14, 2007. The company has commissioned the captive power plant of capacity 40 MW, on Mar. 29, 2007 at Durgapur, to reduce power costs.
