China National Building Material Group Corp (CNBM) June 28 held a meeting in Hanoi to seek opportunities to invest more in Vietnam, Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported Friday.

“It is time us to consider a larger investment-cooperation scale in Vietnam and further the whole Southeast Asian region,” said Song Zhiping, chairman of CNBM Management Board.

Vietnam’s rapid economic growth in recent years and its WTO membership will make the country’s building material market become more lucrative than ever before, he said.

He expected the meeting would be a good chance to boost cooperation among Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises in the field of construction materials in the coming time.

He added “for many years, we have cooperated with big Vietnamese partners such as Vietnam Cement Corp. and Vietnam Glass and Ceramics Corporation (Viglacera). The cooperation is very effective and has brought benefits for both sides.”

Recently, CNBM has reached an agreement with Viglacera to jointly build a network of construction material supermarket across Vietnam.
