Lafarge chief executive Bruno Lafont said he is confident the company will reach its cost-saving objectives of EUR340m by 2008 as planned, a company spokeswoman said Friday.  
 
"I am totally confident the objectives set for 2008 in our strategic ’Excellence 2008’ plan will be reached," Lafont was quoted as saying by his spokeswoman.  
 
"My objective is to reach EUR340m of costs saving in 2008," he was also quoted as saying, adding the amount was "a minimum."  
 
"We will go further in the following years," he was also quoted as saying.
