South Africa cement sales solid

Cement sales in South Africa increased 12.0% YoY in May 2007 from the 12.6% YoY increase reported in April, according to Cement and Concrete Institute (CNCI) data released.

At the end of May 2007, cement sales for the 12 months were reported up to 15.07Mt from the 13.455Mt recorded a year earlier.

This increase compares to the 14.937Mt recorded in April 2007, which was a 12.6% improvement from the 13.269Mt recorded in April 2006.

South African cement sales rose impressively by 16.7% in the first three months of 2007 compared with the first three months of last year.
